# How payments and refunds work

# 🔴 Peewah is not the event organizer

Peewah is the software organizers use to run their events — registration,
tickets, check-in. **We do not organize, produce or host the events themselves.**

The organizer is responsible for the event and for the policies that affect
attendees, **including refunds**.

This matters because it determines who can actually help you.

# Payments

When an event charges for tickets, the payment is processed by an **external
payment provider**, and **the money belongs to the organizer**. Peewah handles
the registration and collection technology around it.

# Refunds

**The refund policy is set by each organizer**, not by Peewah. There is no
single policy across events.

**To request a refund, contact the event organizer directly.** They decide
their policy, communicate it, and carry out refunds when they apply. Peewah can
support the technical side of a refund when the organizer asks us to.

> 💡 **Look for the policy before you buy.** Organizers usually state it on the
> event page or in the confirmation email. Whether a ticket is refundable is
> much easier to establish before the purchase than after.

# If an event is cancelled

The organizer must notify attendees and handle refunds according to applicable
law.

# Where Peewah can help

Write to us if you **cannot access an event**, **hit an error in the
platform**, or **need help checking your registration or ticket**. If it helps
resolve things, we can reach out to the organizer on your behalf.
