# How check-in works on Peewah

**Check-in** records that someone actually entered your event, or a specific
session on the agenda. It is what turns a registrant into an attendee.

There are two ways to do it: the **mobile check-in app**, which is what we
recommend, and the **event dashboard**.

---

# The mobile check-in app

This turns any phone into a QR scanner. You do not install anything.

**1. Open the app** at [checkin.peewah.co](https://checkin.peewah.co/) from a
phone with a camera and an internet connection. You can also reach it from the
event dashboard.

**2. Sign in** with the same credentials you use on Peewah.

**3. Pick the event.**

**4. Pick the session.** If your event has several activities on the schedule,
you choose which one you are checking people into — this is how you get
attendance per session rather than just at the door.

**5. Scan.** Point the camera at the attendee's QR code. You immediately see:

- ✅ **Valid**
- ⚠️ **Invalid**
- 🚫 **Already used**

You also see a live count of how many people have checked in.

> 💡 **Use more than one phone at the door.** Any number of people can be
> scanning at the same time with the same account, and the count stays in sync.
> One scanner is the difference between a queue and no queue.

---

# From the dashboard

Go to **Registration → Check-in**. You get the list of everyone registered.
Find the person, click the three dots on their row, and choose **Check-in**.

> 💡 **Keep this open on a laptop at the door as a fallback** — for someone who
> cannot find their QR code, or whose phone is dead. Searching by name is
> slower than scanning but it keeps the line moving.

---

# 🔴 Check-in has to be enabled on the activity

**A session only accepts check-ins if it was marked for check-in when you built
the schedule.** That is set under **General → Schedule**, per activity.

If it was not, attendance cannot be recorded against that session — which means
it does not count toward certificates and does not appear in your attendance
reports, even though people were in the room.

**Check this for every session before the event**, not on the day.
